REQUIRED DOCUMENTS


Before your international moving day

  • Plan your move ahead of time.
  • Select what items you want to ship. If you get rid of some items, it will decrease the price of your move.
  • Do not include items like medicines, food, beverages, weapons, etc. Ask the list of prohibited items in Mexican customs. 
  • Remember to take apart your passports, cash, jewelry, school documents, etc. This will avoid being packed and shipped with the rest.
  • Ask us what documents you will need for Mexican customs clearance, before moving day. 

Mexican customs clearance

All documents required for returning Mexican nationals and citizens from other countries are different, and all household goods shipments are inspected by customs upon entering Mexico.

Documents required for persons with nationality other than Mexican.

  • Appropriate Mexican visa type
  • Copy of passport
  • EIN number (for US citizens)
  • Packing list of goods contained in shipment.
  • Mexican consular inventory (Certificado a la Lista de Menaje de Casa para Extranjeros).

Documents required for Mexican nationals.

  • Mexican consulate legalized inventory “CERTIFICADO A LA LISTA DE MENAJE DE CASA PARA MEXICANOS”. This document is strictly necessary, and it is obtained by showing proof to embassy or consulate of having lived outside of Mexico for six continuous months.
  • List of the household goods being imported.
  • Copy of passport
  • CURP

GOODS ALLOWED AND NOT ALLOWED


Household goods allowed to be imported. 

You can include tax free, used for more than six months, furniture and household goods for the exclusive use of one family. There must be evidence of being used, like clothing, furniture, ornamental items, etc.

Household goods not allowed to include in your shipment: 

  • New items
  • Used items (with less than six months of use)
  • Items in original packing
  • Live plants or animals
  • Food and beverages
  • Firearms
  • Ammunition and explosives
  • Medicines
  • Narcotics
  • Counterfeit items
  • Cars, motorcycles, motorboats, or golf carts run by gasoline.
  • Cash
  • Jewelry
  • Machinery or items to set up shop or factory.
